Most power outages are short - anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. The OCEAN Pro battery system is designed to comfortably support your home’s energy needs during most short-duration outages, but just how long depends on a few factors, including your home’s energy demands and your battery’s State of Charge (SoC) at the time of the outage.
What is a State of Charge?
Every battery has a storage limit. Your State of Charge is simply how “full” the battery is at a given moment, and it’s the easiest way to describe how much energy is stored and available.

How long your battery lasts during an outage depends on the State of Charge at the time the power goes out and how much energy your home is using during the outage.
You can extend your battery backup during outages by being careful about how you use your energy. Appliances like washers and dryers, heaters, and air conditioners use far more energy than standard usage like lights or refrigeration, so it's probably best to wait to use them until the outage is over.
Washers, Dryers, and Dishwashers
These appliances are among the heaviest energy consumers in your home. Use them sparingly or avoid them entirely during an outage to significantly extend your battery's runtime.
Heating & Air Conditioning
Adjusting your thermostat set point by just a few degrees during an outage can make a meaningful difference in how long your battery lasts — without sacrificing comfort entirely.
Lights & Small Appliances
LED lighting, phone chargers, TVs, and refrigerators draw very little energy. Keep these running normally — they won't meaningfully impact your battery duration.
