How It Works

A smarter, simpler way to power your home.

Energywell combines an automatic home battery backup, a preferred fixed-rate electricity plan, and intelligent energy management into one connected energy ecosystem.

There is nothing for you to manage, and we install the system at no cost.

How our system works.

We think energy should be more transparent, more affordable, and more reliable for everyone.

We install a battery backup system in your home at no upfront cost.

You pay a small refundable deposit, complete your virtual site survey, and you are on your way!

You enroll in an Energywell electricity plan at a low, fixed rate.

You start on a 5 year term and be protected by our Lowest Price Guarantee when it comes time to renew your plan.

Your battery gets connected and operates automatically.

Get 15-years of automatic home battery backup while helping to stabilize the local grid.

What happens behind the scenes.

The system works quietly in the background so you never have to think about it.

You gain the benefits of being part of our Connected Energy Community — what you might know better as a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Connected homes working intelligently, together.

Low cost periods.

When electricity prices are lower, your battery can can charge automatically—storing more affordable energy to power your home later. By managing when energy is purchase and used, we help keep your rate predictable.

High demand periods.

When demand (and prices) rise, your home can draw from stored battery energy instead of  from the grid. This smart timing helps reduce overall energy costs and supports your fixed-rate plan.

Automatic by design.

All of this happens quietly in the background. There are no settings to manage, and your system is designed to optimize energy use automatically while keeping your home powered first.

What is a Virtual Power Plant?

Your battery is designed to power your home first. It can store energy when electricity costs are lower and use that stored energy when prices are higher — all helping us to deliver more stable, predictable energy costs over time.

Your system is also part of our Connected Energy Community—a network of homes with batteries that contribute to a smarter, more balanced system. In rare periods of extreme grid demand, some stored energy may be shared back to the grid to help maintain reliability.

Because your home is part of this connected network (often called a Virtual Power Plant, or VPP), we can manage energy more efficiently across many households when needed. This helps lower overall system costs, support grid stability, and provide benefits like automatic backup power and competitive fixed-rate plans.
Your comfort and power always come first.

Most of the time, your battery is simply storing and supplying energy for your home, operating quietly in the background.

Completing your Virtual Site Survey.

To ensure your home is a good fit, you'll need to complete a short Virtual Site Survey (VSS) prior to scheduling your installation. Don't worry — it only takes a few minutes and you can do it with just your phone.

We just need a few photos of your electrical panel, the installation area, and a utility bill so we can confirm your home qualifies and schedule your installation.

Submit your photos.
