Installation FAQs

How long will my battery last during an outage?

How long your battery lasts during an outage depends on two things: how charged the battery is when the outage begins, and how much energy your home uses during the outage.

Your smart panel displays your current charge level—that's your best real-time indicator during an outage. As a general guide:

  • Below 50%: Start conserving energy where you can
  • Around 20%: Focus on essential circuits only
  • Near 10%: The system will prepare to shut down to protect the battery

How can I make my battery last longer?

Your Energywell battery activates automatically if the grid goes down. There's nothing you need to do to prepare—however, during an outage, your battery performs best when it's supporting only your essential loads. Here’s a few easy ways to extend your runtime:

  • Go easy on high-draw appliances—washers, dryers, ovens, and water heaters use significantly more energy than everyday usage
  • Adjust your thermostat by a few degrees—even small changes can make a meaningful difference in how long your battery lasts
  • Turn off lights and devices you're not actively using
  • Unplug chargers and appliances running on standby

How can I increase my backup beyond the battery?

With your Energywell battery, your home is backed up automatically, but if you already own portable power stations, generators or other battery systems, here’s how they can work with your setup.

These solutions are typically best for device-level backup, but in select cases, they can be used to extend your home backup by connecting to your Energywell systems as a secondary power source.

When used this way, external power sources act as a backup extender, sending power into the Ocean Pro to help recharge it during an outage. This connection is one way only, and is only effective after the Ocean Pro has been depleted.
