Why there’s no cost.

Traditional home battery backups typically require a large upfront purchase, an ongoing subscription, or a substantial installation fee. At Energywell, things work a little differently.

Because your battery participates in a connected energy community, it does more than provide backup power for your home.

We charge the battery when energy prices are lower.

We can discharge stored energy when prices are higher.

And when the grid is under stress, stored energy can be used to help meet demand.

By managing energy more intelligently across many homes, the system creates value beyond any one household and allows us to optimize costs intelligently that we can pass along to you. That’s what allows us to install and maintain your battery with no equipment purchase and no installation fee, and to offer you a competitive energy rate over a long period of time.

How your Energywell contract works.

Your enrollment with Energywell is structured in two contracts designed to provide you with a single, high-value offering.

Your retail energy agreement begins on a 5 year term and renews periodically. Your battery services agreement is a 15 year agreement designed to provide you and your home with long-term home battery backup.

With this offer, you’ll get competitive, fixed rate energy pricing and a home battery backup system at no upfront cost. Here’s a little more about the term structure:

The total term of your Energywell Battery Program is 15 years, but your initial electricity rate agreement renews after 5 years.

At initial sign-up and at each renewal, you’ll have access to our Lowest Rate Guarantee.

If you find a lower comparable rate* at time of renewal and Energywell cannot match or beat it, you can cancel without any fees or penalties, and we’ll come remove the battery system at no cost!

This structure ensures long-term price competitiveness without requiring you to shop or renegotiate every year.

*Comparable rates are offers available to customers in your area that have the same term length, fixed-rate structure, and are publicly available on powertochoose.org at the time of your renewal.
